Creamy chicken baked in puff pastry

A great recipe for using ham ;)

Preparation process

1. Cut the Međimurje chicken into cubes. Put 3-4 dl of water and a chicken cube into the pot. When the water boils, add the chicken, carrots and peas and cook for ten minutes.

2. At the same time, heat a spoonful of two oils in another pot and fry the mushrooms, caramelizing them well. Remove the mushrooms and add the onion to the same pot, stirring for two minutes. If necessary, add a little more oil and flour, stir for a minute or two, it is not necessary for the flour to become colored, fry the flour on a low heat.

3. Drain the cooked chicken and vegetables, save the liquid, if there is not half a liter of liquid, add water to make a total of half a liter.

4. Add garlic, thyme and paprika to the fried flour and onion, after mixing for 30 seconds, pour in the milk and half a liter of liquid for cooking the chicken. Mix with a whisk and after a minute add the caramelized mushrooms, ham, cooked chicken, peas and carrots.

5. Mix with a food processor, taste and add salt, pepper and chili. At this point, you can also add grated cheese, mix for another two to three minutes.

6. Turn on the oven to 220 C. Place the mixture in a container suitable for the oven. Cut the puff pastry into wide strips, which are placed on top of the mixture so that they overlap. Coat with beaten egg yolk and milk. Put it in the oven, reduce the temperature to 200 C, take it out after 30 to 35 minutes so that the dough turns golden. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
